The Yeast Glucan is a polysaccharide sugar, extracted during yeast’s fermentation process. Also known as β-glucan, it is usually found in the cell walls of yeast, mushrooms, etc. β-glucan boosts human immune system through the stimulating activity of macrophages, which are scavenger cells that search for and destroy pathogens.
In skin care, β-glucan strengthens natural skin barrier, repairs damaged skin and soothes irritated skin (peeling, redness and itching). It also stimulates skin metabolism and thereby helps in the renewal of cells. And, acting as a strong antioxidant, β-glucan also protects against oxidative stress that can cause early ageing, keeps skin free from wrinkles and pigment spots, and makes it soft and smooth.
