紅海藻防曬精華

Red Algae Anti-UVA Essence

海藻因偏薄,透光性高,容易被紫外線對其染色體產生傷害。基於自我防衛機制,海藻本身具多種不同的紫外線吸收物質。不同的海藻能吸收不同波長的紫外線,像褐海藻有比較多吸收短波長紫外線的吸收物質,而紅海藻就偏向吸收長波紫外線。

APA Complete日霜所用的紅海藻防曬精華就是取自於生活在法國北部布列塔尼半島海邊的紅海藻的紫外線吸收物質,名為類菌胞素氨基酸(Mycosporine-like amino acids,MAAs)。研究發現MAAs是大自然最強的UVA吸收物質,甚至比合成UV防曬劑更有效吸收有害的UVA。

化學性防曬的一些成份容易刺激皮膚,引起過敏,亦有可能產生滲入皮膚被吸收的問題,在皮膚內吸收輻射產生自由基,然而紅海藻防曬精華不但能吸收UVA,防止光衰老,同時把UVA的能量轉化為熱能,不會形成自由基,保護皮膚對抗光衰老。研究亦發現,一些志願者在使用加有紅海藻防曬精華的護膚品後,皮膚緊緻度有所提升,皮膚亦變得幼滑。

Algae naturally produce UV-absorbing compound to protect themselves from ultraviolet light damage due to their high light transmission. Different algae can absorb different wavelengths of UV light. For example, brown algae have more absorbing substance for short-wavelength UV light, while red algae have more for long-wave UV light-absorption.

The Red Algae Anti-UVA Essence in APA Complete Day Cream contains a concentrated UVA-absorption substance from red algae living on the seashores in Brittany, north region of France. The UVA-absorption substance is called Mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs).

MAAs is the strongest natural UV-absorbing compound. Studies show that, compared to synthetic filters, MAAs is more effective in UVA-absorption.

MAAs does not decompose the absorbed UV energy intooxidative reaction products (i.e. free radicals), as it is the case with most other UV-screening systems. MAAs releases the absorbed energy in the form of heat, effectively reduces UV-induced DNA damage and signs of photoaging. Both in vivo and in vitro studies showed that the Red Algae Anti-UVA Essence can improve skin firmness and smoothness.
